Civil Service Compensation Scheme (CSCS) – Calculators and Webpage

The layout of the current Civil Service Compensation Scheme (CSCS) pages have been redesigned to make it easier for members and employers to navigate. The page layout and design has followed the look and feel of the 2016 Annual Benefit Statement pages which have been well received by members and employers alike.

The pages can be found at the following;

Members - http://www.civilservicepensionscheme.org.uk/members/civil-service-compensation-scheme-for-members/

Employers - http://www.civilservicepensionscheme.org.uk/employers/civil-service-compensation-scheme-for-employers/

You should also note that the Civil Service Compensation Scheme calculators are now available which can be found within the pages noted above.

DON’T FORGET… You should contact MyCSP, the scheme administrator, as early as possible to discuss the timescales for running your exit scheme. You can contact them using the dedicated exit scheme email address exit.schemes@mycsp.co.uk

Change of Defined Contribution pension provider

There are currently three providers of Partnership (Standard Life, Scottish Widows and Prudential) and three providers of the Additional Voluntary Contributions scheme (Standard Life, Scottish Widows and Equitable Life). Prudential and Equitable Life are closed to new joiners.

Cabinet Office has decided to move to a single Defined Contribution provider from April 2018. From April 2018 almost all Partnership and AVC contributions will change to the new provider (there are a small number of contracts which may need to continue, eg, members purchasing enhanced death benefits from Equitable Life).

The change will require payroll amendments to send contributions to the new provider however, these cannot be detailed until a successful provider is identified. Cabinet Office expects to be able to announce a new provider by approximately January 2017. At this time further detail about payroll changes and the new provider’s processes will become available.

The first stage of procuring a new provider will be published over the next week, inviting companies to bid. The process is expected to conclude toward the end of 2016. As above, no immediate action is required, but you should be prepared for payroll changes to move to a new provider from April 2018.
