Applying to join the pension scheme

​​Section 25(5) of the Public Service Pensions Act 2013

Government Departments and agencies that are staffed by Civil Servants have an automatic right to join the Civil Service Pension Scheme. The scheme is also open to certain non-Civil Service organisations, such as non-Departmental Public Bodies, if they meet the Cabinet Office policy on eligibility for entry.

​​New Fair Deal

New Fair Deal Policy was introduced in October 2013 by HM Treasury. It is a non-statutory policy that sets out how pensions issues are to be dealt with when staff are compulsorily transferred from the public sector to independent providers delivering public services.
