What happens next
Your pension will continue to be paid into your existing bank account until we receive:
Full details of your new bank account (account name, account number and sort code), and
Supporting evidence confirming your details as requested on the form.
You must provide a bank statement or other official document that shows your name, address and updated bank details. This document must be dated within the last three months.
If continuing payments to your existing account would cause you difficulty, you can request that your pension payments are temporarily suspended until the new bank details are processed.
Once your bank details have been updated, we will send you a confirmation letter.
Overseas bank accounts
If your new bank account is overseas, please contact us to request an Overseas Bank Details form. This form is not currently available on the website.
As part of this process, you will need to provide:
A certified copy of your passport or photocard driving licence, and
A document from you bank confirming the new account details.
Further guidance will be included with the form we send to you.
If a payment has already been issued
Once a payment has been issued, we cannot redirect it.
If your previous bank account has been closed, the bank will usually return the payment to us automatically.
Once we receive the returned payment, it will be reissued to your updated bank account.
Joint accounts
We can pay your pension into a joint account, provided you are named on the account.
Important
Bank switching services do not update your details with Civil Service Pensions. You must notify the scheme directly if your bank details change.
