What is a pension quote and why do I need one?
A pension quote is a calculation of the pension you will likely receive, based on your service record, pensionable earnings and retirement age.
It’s used to help you make decisions about your retirement and complete the forms needed to start taking your pension.
Your quote pack explains your options and the steps you need to take. Take time to read this carefully before making any decisions.
What is included in my pension calculation?
Your quote is based on your reckonable service and pensionable earnings, using the rules of the pension scheme you are a member of.
It may also include:
-
any pension or service transferred in from another scheme
-
previous periods of service you chose to combine when re-joining
-
any Added Pension or Added Years you have purchased
-
benefits linked to an Effective Pension Age (EPA) or Enhanced Effective Pension Age (EEPA) you have bought
-
any pension debit applied following a divorce (for example, from a pension sharing order)
-
any deduction where you asked the scheme to pay an Annual Allowance tax charge (Scheme Pays)
These are all taken together when calculating your quote.
What is not included in my pension calculation?
Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs) are not included. AVCs are separate from your Civil Service Pension and are managed by your AVC provider. Please contact your AVC provider directly for details.
Can I request a revised quote if my circumstances have changed since I applied?
If your circumstances have changed and you think this may affect your quote, please include details on your quote forms when you return them. We will review this when processing your case and contact you if any information or updates are needed.
