Quotes Hub FAQs - Your figures explained

Published: 19 May 2026
Last Updated: 19 May 2026

Why does my quote show an older salary figure?

Your quote is based on the most recent information held by the Civil Service Pension Scheme, using data provided by your employer. For most members, salary changes little in the months before retirement, so your quote will be a good guide to what you will receive.
If your salary has changed recently, it may not be reflected in your quote. This will be reviewed as your case progresses and we will contact you if any updates are needed so your pension can be processed without delay.
In some cases, if information changes later, your pension may need to be revised to ensure it is correct. You do not need to contact us about this unless you believe a significant change has not been captured.

My retirement date shown on the quote is in the past - is that right?

Yes, this is often correct. In many cases, retirement dates shown in the past reflect when a member reached their normal pension age or agreed retirement date.
Because of processing delays, your quote will show the retirement date or last day of service that was agreed with your employer, or that you gave to us. If that date is still correct, you can sign and return your forms. Your pension will then be put into payment, with any arrears back to that date.
If you did not leave on the that date, tell the Civil Service Pension Scheme the correct date when you return your forms. A new quote may be needed in some cases.

My quote was calculated to a past retirement date - does this mean I have missed out on pension payments?

No. If your retirement date is in the past, your pension will be backdated to that date and arrears paid. You will not miss out on any payments.

Why does my quote look different from my Annual Benefit Statement (ABS)?

Your Annual Benefit Statement (ABS) is an estimate based on your position up to 31 March of the relevant tax year. Your pension quote uses more recent information and includes all relevant adjustments, so it will be more accurate.
It’s normal for your quote to differ from your ABS. You should use your pension quote to make retirement decisions.

Why does my quote look different from what I saw on the retirement modeller?

The modeller is an estimate tool — it does not include all deductions such as Scheme Pays, Added Pension and transfers in. Your quotation is a formal calculation and will be more accurate.
Always base retirement decisions on your quotation, not the modeller.

My pension includes a pension sharing order following divorce - how is this handled?

Any reduction to your pension because of a pension sharing order is already included in your retirement quote.
This will be considered when your pension is processed and put into payment, so you do not need to take any additional action.
In some cases, where further information is needed, we may contact you during processing.
