Complex cases

Some circumstances can affect how Remedy applies to you.

This may include:

  • pension transfers into or out of the scheme
  • pension sharing orders following divorce or dissolution
  • EPA or EEPA purchases during the Remedy period
  • Added Pension arrangements
  • Scheme Pays debits or related tax adjustments
  • partial retirement or retirement scenarios requiring additional review

If your situation is more complex, we will take this into account when preparing your information.

We will contact you directly if any specific action is required.

Why some cases take longer

Some members’ records need additional checks before we can produce a full Remediable Service Statement or retirement quotation.

Current CSPS guidance explains that some members may not receive a full Remediable Service Statement (RSS) at the same time as others because of specific circumstances, including EPA or EEPA purchased during the Remedy period, partial or formal retirement scenarios, and data issues that affect the ability to process an Alternative Scheme Option Annual Benefit Statement (ABS).

Other scenarios may also need more detailed review. For example, transfers into the Civil Service Pension Scheme during or after the Remedy period may need to be shown and converted correctly between scheme options. Pension sharing orders may need to be assessed and potentially recalculated to reflect Remedy. Scheme Pays debits may also need to be updated depending on HMRC assessment.

These checks are needed to make sure the information we provide is accurate and reflects the right pension position.

What this means for your statement or quote

If your case is complex, your statement or quote may take longer to prepare.

In some cases, you may receive part of your information first, with further Remedy information provided later. In other cases, your retirement quotation will include the information you need as part of the normal retirement process.

Current CSPS guidance says that if you’re planning to retire, the absence of a 2025 RSS should not impact your retirement. You’ll receive your Remedy retirement quotation and can follow the normal retirement process.

What you need to do

You do not need to contact us unless we ask you to.

If we need further information from you, we’ll explain what we need and why.

If you receive a statement, quote or decision pack, read it carefully. It will explain whether your case has any additional considerations, whether you need to make a decision and what happens next.

Please keep checking the Remedy Hub for further updates.
