Actions

  • To work with your payroll provider to ensure that employee contribution rates and salary thresholds from 2018/19 can be rolled forward to apply from 1 April 2019.
  •  To communicate with your employees that there will be no change to the member contribution rates.

  • Immediate.

Detail 

  1. Following the announcement by HM Treasury on 30 January 2019 regarding the cost cap and Valuation process, the Civil Service pension scheme consulted with Trades Unions regarding member contribution rates to apply from 1 April 2019.
  2.  2018/19 member contribution rates and thresholds will continue to apply unchanged from 1 April 2019. Legislative amendments to the pension scheme rules which relate to this policy were laid on 11 March 2019.

Table 1 – Employee pension contribution rates from 1 April 2019

3. The above contribution rates will apply until further notice.

4. Rates will be reviewed in due course, following the outcome of the on-going transitional protection appeal and possible subsequent court hearing (“the McCloud case” which is described in the HM Treasury Written Statement detailed in paragraph 1).
