Civil Service Pensions, Cabinet Office, is holding a Pensions Conference on 21 April 2009 at The New Connaught Rooms, 61-65 Great Queen Street, London WC2B 5DA.

The aim of the Pensions Conference is to bring employer and administrator representatives together to update them and gain their feedback on pensions developments and promote improved member communications.

Outline agenda

Dusty Amroliwala, Director of Employment and Reward, Civil Service Capability Group, Cabinet Office, will deliver the keynote speech on the role of the Civil Service pension at the heart of total reward and in support of managing age retirement.

The sessions will include:

  • partial retirement – policy, practice and communications, including experience from HMRC
  • PENSIONSFORCE - a presentation from a National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) representative about the independent, free pensions awareness presentations that NAPF provides to employers for their staff
  • Delivery review – an update on the review of Civil Service pensions administration
  • targeted communications - latest developments in this programme, which was launched in consultation with employer and pension administrator representatives during the last (and final) round of Pensions Communication Network meetings, and
  • forward look - forthcoming projects that Civil Service Pensions will be working on over the next 12 months.

Delegates will be seated ‘cabaret style’ and interactive sessions will include table discussions to collect delegate views and feedback as appropriate.

The conference will start at 10.30 am and finish no later than 3 pm. Pre-conference refreshments and lunch will be provided at the venue.

Who should attend?

Anyone in your organisation who manages:

  • the translation of Civil Service pensions policy into HR and payroll processes
  • Civil Service pensions’ communications to members; and/or
  • contracts with third party HR, payroll and pension administrator providers

How to apply

Complete and return the form, enclosed in the covering email, to esg@cabinet-office.x.gsi.gov.uk. We will need a completed form for each person in your organisation who wishes to attend. We will allocate places on a first-come-first-served basis although we ask that you keep nominations to a maximum of three so that we can get a fair representation from all CSP organisations. Please complete all fields on the form as this is an opportunity for us to check that we hold your correct contact details.

We will acknowledge applications immediately, and will send agendas and directions to all delegates the beginning of April.

The cost of attending the conference is free. However, if you have been accepted as a delegate then fail to attend, your organisation will be charged a £150 cancellation fee. We will, however, accept a deputy to attend on your behalf if your circumstances change and you cannot attend on the day. For security reasons, you must give us details of the deputy before 21 April 2009. If we have not received notification before then, they will not be admitted to the conference.
