Annual Benefit Statement – Employer Management Information

Since production began in June, the Scheme Administrator has been working with employers to ensure that all eligible scheme members received an Annual Benefit Statement (ABS) in 2016.

We’ve now achieved our first ABS milestone of 2016, successfully issuing alpha and alpha dual statements to 100% of eligible members within the regulatory deadline of 31 August.

The eligibility of members to receive a 2016 statement was agreed by the Scheme Manager in April, and is as follows:

  • Recipients must be an active scheme member or active pensioner.
  • Employer must have provided the Scheme Administrator with a record of the member’s pensionable earnings for the 2015/16 scheme year.
  • The member’s service history record (supplied to the Scheme Administrator by your employer) does not have an end date before 31/03/2016.

The eligibility criteria was applied to the Care Year End data we received by 31 May 2016 to determine the population who would receive an alpha statement by 31 August.

Based on feedback collected during last year’s ABS exercise, and in order to assist employers to manage any ABS related queries, the Scheme Administrator will now produce Management Information (MI) for all employers. The MI will include the details of those eligible members who have received their 2016 statement, and will enable employers to check the eligibility status of members against their own records.

The Scheme Administrator will be providing Management Information (MI) to all employers and aim to have issued this by 30 September 2016.

Employer Escalation Process

An escalation process has now been launched. The purpose of the escalation process is to provide a mechanism to deal with any potential problems which may arise. The process can be found in the following what to expect guide.

Please note that the most effective way to resolve an issue is often with a phone call to your Service Delivery Manager (SDM). This can help avoid an e-mail conversation which sometimes results in delays.

Pension Awareness Week

On 12 September, we’ll be launching Pension Awareness Week.

The goal of Pension Awareness Week is to help Civil Service Pension scheme members engage with their pension by raising awareness of the Civil Service Pension Scheme website and the new scheme materials currently available to them, such as new pension quizzes, What to expect... guides, Quick Start guides, and the At a Glance scheme guide.

To promote Pension Awareness week we’ll be visiting employers in six cities in five days, where we’ll be meeting members to help answer their general, pension related questions and promoting a range of new, helpful scheme materials.

From 12 September there’ll also be a page on the scheme website, where members who are unable to attend the events can get involved.

To help raise awareness of Pension Awareness Week amongst your employees, we’ve created a pack of materials which you can use on your intranet and notice boards.

The pack contains PowerPoint slides, a Pension Awareness Week logo and PDF posters. To download the Employer Pack, click on the attachments below.
