Action: Employers should make sure that they have taken the actions contained in the attached letter from the Cabinet Office to HR Directors dated 27July.

Timing: Immediate

  1. Following on from the Chief Secretary to the Treasury’s announcement to Parliament on 19 July the Cabinet Office issued on 28 July 2011 a consultation document, A Sustainable Future. This document covers the approach the Government proposes to adopt in increasing employee contributions, from April 2012, to the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme (PCSPS).
  2. A Sustainable Future is available on the Civil Service website together with Q&A material and a calculator designed to provide members with more information on the impact of the proposals.
  3. Annex A is a copy of the letter that has gone to HR Directors.
