Autumn 2023 REF

In Autumn 2023 over 200 employers attended the Regional Employer Forums located in Cardiff, Liverpool, London and Edinburgh.

Throughout the events we were able to provide updates on a number of key topics including:

Valuation 2020 and Member contributions
Valuation 2020 and Employer contributions
Changes to the Civil Service Compensation Scheme Annual Allowance
Classic survivor benefits
2015 Remedy Programme (McCloud)
Engagement update

Break out activity enabled employers to work together closely, sharing ideas, best practice and providing some great insight and feedback.

Employers were able to submit questions using Slido throughout the day, and these questions are being reviewed by the Employer Relations Team. This is in addition to the useful feedback provided during the break out sessions.

REF Spring 2023

No. The implementation date for the regulations is from October 2023.

This is likely to be the case. Any impacted members will be made aware through various channels.

Yes, the Remedy Benefit Illustrator is a "Stop Gap" measure until the Portal Modeller is enhanced.

Yes. We will be communicating out to individuals who would usually receive a PSS to inform them. A communications plan is currently under development.

This would be shown in the communication which impacted members will receive. If they would be subject to abatement then their pension would be abated, for example changing from alpha to classic. If their pension wouldn’t be subject to abatement then they wouldn’t be, for example if those chose to have alpha pension instead of classic.

This would depend on if the individual changed the "make up" of their pension. If they subsequently chose alpha, and no lump sum, then they would need to repay their lump sum.

The aim of the Employer Engagement Matrix is to get a picture of the work employers are engaging with the scheme. This is primarily intended to be used to highlight any potential areas employers could improve and learn from an employer who does a particular aspect well. If there is an alternative measure which would be more useful then please share with, Andrew.Jones@cabinetoffice.gov.uk.

May 2023 REF

In May 2023, 200 employers attended the Spring Regional Employer Forums located in Cardiff, London and Edinburgh.

October 2022 REF

In October 2022, 235 employers joined us in Edinburgh, Manchester, Cardiff and London for the Autumn Regional Employer Forums.

The events provided an opportunity for employers to gather together, network, learn and share.

During each forum we provided an update on 2015 Remedy, Communications and Engagement, Future Services, Customer Experience improvements, and upcoming scheme events.

Our Employer Relationship Management team have been reviewing the feedback from the roundtable sessions and the numerous questions received via Slido.

In line with our continued effort to support employers in the administration of the Civil Service pension scheme, we reported on the outcomes from these sessions, including next steps, at PPDG on 29 November. We'll be following up again at the next REFs in May 2023.
