One of 12 new episodes coming this autumn, it features a story from one of our retired members.

Gillian’s career took her all over the world – from working as an Assistant Purser with P&O, to a fulfilling career with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office spanning three decades.

As a PA to an Ambassador, Gillian has worked in the Philippines, Peru, Guatemala, Chile, Mexico and Hungary. She was dedicated to her work and colleagues and truly loved her job. It’s therefore no surprise that when she retired on her 60th birthday, she went home and wept.

After initially feeling uncertain and lost, Gillian threw herself into retirement and found a new purpose as a Registrar of Marriages and a published author.

In this episode, she reflects on the highs and lows of her career and her retirement journey, and shares advice for those approaching retirement in the next few years.

New episodes will be released every Thursday, wherever you get your podcasts.
